JIG grinding wheels are used in motor molds, lead frame molds, semiconductor molding molds and other fields. They can also be used in CNC machining centers, small internal grinders, scientific research, experimental grinders, etc.
Jig grinding wheels([pins) are mainly that the electroplated super abrasives( diamond or CBN) is used on the CNC Jig grinding machine, which used for high-precision grinding of holes and gaps in parts by using the precision Jig measuring devices.
It is mainly used for processing precision molds such as manufacturing of motor molds, lead frame molds, semiconductor profiling molds. Jig grinding pin can be customized according to the customers’ requirements, and can meet the special requirements for rough machining, precision machining, polishing, and etc.

JIG Grinding Method
Radial feed grinding: This method is use the circumferential surface of the grinding wheel for grinding, and make a small amount of feed along the radial direction of the grinding wheel during feeding. It is suitable for precision grinding for holes.
- Cutting-in method: This method is use the end face of the grinding wheel for grinding. The grinding wheel feeds along the axial direction. It is suitable for grinding shoulder surface, end face, spherical surface, and etc.
- Insert grinding method. The grinding wheel spindle moves along the contour of the workpieces when the grinding wheel rapidly moves up and down, which is the main method for contour grinding on the Jig machine.
JIG Grinding Principle
CNC JIG grinding machine adopts the planetary inner hole grinding method, and can grind the workpieces with the grinding wheel as the tool. When grinding the workpieces, it is usually fixed and stationary, and the grinding wheel can achieve the four relative movements
- The axis of JIG grinding wheels itself rotates at high speed.
- JIG grinding wheels perform planetary motion at a lower speed around the center line of the hole being ground, and the vector position of the grinding wheel can also be adjusted by CNC method to achieve the shape development.
- Jig grinding pin moves up and down in a straight reciprocating motion along the center line of the hole being ground to achieve longitudinal feed.
- After each (or several) vertical reciprocating motion of Jig grinding wheel, increase the turning radius R of the planetary motion of Jig grinding mandrel to achieve transverse (or radial) feed.
The typical shapes of CNC Jig Grinding include:
- Round hole grinding (straight holes, small holes, tapered holes, blind holes, etc.);
- Surface grinding;
- Square hole grinding;
- Circular arc grinding;
- Grooves grinding;
- Spherical grinding;
Types of JIG Grinding Pins (Wheels)
There are diamond and CBN for Jig grinding wheels. Diamond Jig grinding wheels are used for tungsten carbide( tungsten steel), ceramics, and etc. CBN grinding mandrel are used for grinding high-speed steel and heat-treated steel parts. Jig grinding pins can also be used to CNC center, small internal grinding machine, scientific research, experimental grinding machine, etc.
