Selection of Bonding Agent of Wheel
CNC fluting grinding belongs to large feed grinding.
With the maximum cutting depth up to 8mm, it has high requirements for superabrasive wheel, grinding equipment, and lubricants. If this process is not done well, it not only affects the quality of the cutting edge, but also affects the surface quality of the cutting surface, even there will be burns and cracks on the spiral groove after grinding.
Large feed grinding requires superabrasive wheels to have good sharpness.
Large cutting depth cutting will have a large amount of heat, and the cutting fluid cannot reach the deep groove well, resulting in the accumulation of heat. This requires the bonding agent of grinding wheel to be resistant to high temperature. There is large consumption for large feed grinding to wheels and requires fluting wheel to have a good service life.
Because the resin bonding agent is more soft, although it has high sharpness, the resin bond grinding wheel will be deformation and has a low life when grinding. Due to the strong bonding ability of metal bond to abrasive particles, the self sharpening of grinding wheels is poor, resulting in low grinding efficiency and difficulty in dressing. But metal-resin hybrid bond has good features.
The hybrid bond fluting wheel has high wear resistance and sharpness, which can meet the characteristics of large cutting depth and large feed.
It can improve the efficiency of machining CNC tools.
The hybrid bond fluting wheel has low grinding resistance and low grinding temperature during grinding, and there will be no cracks, burns, and thermal deformation of the rod material in the process of powerful flute grinding wheel. The life of fluting wheel is also very long, which increases the dressing cycle of grinding wheel.

The hybrid bond superhard grinding wheel will not affect the characteristics of CBN and diamond.
The hybrid bond diamond wheel is used for grinding carbide drills and milling cutters. The hybrid CBN wheel is used for HSS drills and milling cutters.
