Electroplated CBN grinding wheels can be made into complex geometric shapes and are widely use.
Electroplated CBN grinding wheel is a cutting tool that fixes CBN grains on the surface of a metal substrate by electroplating technology.
During the electroplating process, CBN grains are evenly distributed on the surface of the metal substrate and tightly bonded with the metal substrate, forming a sturdy cutting tool.
Production Process of Electroplated CBN Grinding Wheels:
The substrate can be metal or other materials, such as steel, aluminum, copper, etc. Firstly, the substrate needs to be cleaned to ensure that the surface is free of impurities and deposits. Then the substrate needs to be ground and polished to obtain a smooth surface.
Before CBN electroplating, some pretreatment is required. Firstly, do the degreasing the substrate to remove surface grease and dirt. Then, do the pickling treatment for the substrate to remove oxides and corrosive substances from the metal surface. Finally, do the activation treatment to increase the reactivity of the substrate surface.
Electroplating is a core step in the CBN electroplating technology. During the electroplating process, put the substrate in the electrolytic cell and in contact with the CBN plating solution. The electroplating solution in the electrolytic cell in composed of CBN grains, solvents, and additives. When current is applied, CBN grains are electroplated onto the surface of the substrate, forming a strong CBN coating.
After electroplating, post treatment of the coating is also required. Firstly, clean and rinse, to remove the residual plating solution and other impurities. Then, dry the substrate to remove surface moisture. Finally, do some surface treatments such as polishing,or coating with protective layers to increase the smoothness ans wear resistance of the coating.
After CBN electroplating technology, inspect and quality control for the coating. Inspect methods include microscopic observation, thickness measurement, and hardness testing. These inspect methods can be used to evaluate performance indicators such as coating uniformity, adhesion, and thickness.
