About Al2O3 Ceramic

Al₂O₃ ceramic has high alumina content, dense structure, and special performance, and it is called special ceramics. Al₂O₃ ceramic material is a densely packed hexagonal structure composed of oxygen ions, with aluminum ions filling two-third s of the octahedral gaps. This is a stable α – Al₂O3 structure similar to natural corundum, therefore, alumina ceramics have high melting point, high hardness and excellent wear resistance.

The hardness of alumina ceramic is more than HRA85, second only to that of diamond, and the surface is smooth with low friction coefficient, miking the wear resistance very ideal. Especially in high temperature oxidizing or corrosive media, the performance of alumina ceramic is much superior than that of other metal materials. The Rockwell hardness of alumina is HRA80-90, second only to that of diamond and far from the wear resistance of wear -resistant steel and stainless steel.

Compared with the metal bond diamond cut off wheel, resin bond diamond cut off wheels have sharpness and fast cutting speed, while metal bond diamond cut off wheels have better wrapping performance and longer cutting life.

Hubless diamond cut off wheels have better cutting accuracy, but the diameter is relatively small, making them suitable for high precision and small cutting depth application, such as cutting alumina substrates. Hub diamond cut off wheels have a larger cutting depth, such as cutting large-diameter alumina ceramic tubes.
