Tungsten Carbide

The hardness of tungsten carbide is 89-95HRA, which means it is much harder than most metals. Tungsten carbide has high temperature resistant, and even maintain stable hardness at 500℃ and remaining firm even at 1000℃.

The reason why tungsten steel is so hard is mainly it contains a large amount of tungsten carbide(WC), ranging from 70% to 97%.

In addition, there is a small amount of cobalt (Co) as bonding agent which firmly stick tungsten carbide particles together, with a proportion of approximately 3% to 27%. In addition,

It may also contain other components such as titanium carbide( TiC), tantalum carbide(TaC), or niobium carbide(NdC), which can further enhance the performance of tungsten steel.

Features of Diamond Cut Off Wheel For Tungsten Carbide

  • Diamond is one of the hardest materials, with a Mohs hardness of 10. This enables the diamond cut off wheel to effectively cut tungsten carbide (Mohs hardness of approximately 9).
  • Diamond cut off wheel has excellent wear resistance and durability. This means it can maintain the performance for a longer period of time, reducing the need for frequent replacement.
  • Diamond cut off wheel can be used for sharp and precise cutting, minimizing fragmentation or cracking on tungsten carbide workpieces, ensuring clean edges and smooth surfaces
  • The good thermal conductivity of diamond is good for effectively dissipation heat during the cutting process and reduce the risk of thermal damage to tungsten carbide.

Resin Bond or Metal Bond Diamond Cut Off Wheel ?

Although metal bond diamond cut off wheel has high compressive strength and life, it has poor self sharpening. During the cutting process, it is easily passivated, resulting in sharpness decrease and need frequent dressing. Therefore, resin bond diamond cut off wheel with good self sharpening has become the ideal choice. Although the life of resin bond diamond cut off wheel is shorter than that of metal bond, the ability to cut is the primary condition.

We can provide customized services. The customers should provide information including workpiece parameter of tungsten carbide, inner and outer diameter, thickness of abrasive layers, and etc.
